Born in Moscow in 1955.
Graduated from the Gnessin Moscow Specialize School of Music, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory with Prof. Vera Gornostayeva, then took his postgraduate studentship.
Attended the class for simphonic conduction (Prof. Yuri Simonov and Dmitry Kitaenko)
In the 1980s he participated as a pianist in numerous contemporary music festivals in the Soviet Union, concertizing in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Riga, Odessa and other major Russian musical centers and abroad (England, Austria, Germany, Israel, USA).
In 1990 the Soviet-American Joint Venture "Art&Electronics" issued his piano recital CD.
In 1987 he began teaching at the Gnessin Moscow Specialize School of Music and as a teacher he has been invited to speak at numerous music conferences, youth festivals; to give a masterclasses and to judge at international competitions.
In 1989 Mikhail Khokhlov was named Director of the Gnessin School, which in 1998 was recognized as the best musical school of Russia.
